80 Programs for Arab Women

The Audience

The focus of this project is on the 40 million Arab women who have access to satellite TV and who have distinct spiritual, emotional and physical needs.  A rough estimate of the total audience for these programs is in the realm of 500,000 to 1.500,000 Arab women.

The Need

Muslim women in the Arab world must hear the Gospel. They do not often hear the Gospel from other Arab women.  If they hear it at all, it is from men.  There are almost a dozen organizations broadcasting Arabic Christian programs by satellite to the Arab world. These broadcasts show mainly men proclaiming the Gospel.

For Arab Muslim women, it is very attractive to see that in the Christian faith, women play a major role. Islam teaches that it is better for women to not pray in the mosque, while Christ welcomes women just as much as he welcomes men. For Muslim women this is a revolutionary idea. For many, this is one of the great attractions of the Christian faith since they crave for this equality. In Christ there is no difference as He unites people in love.

The Project

This project entails the production of 80 TV programs in 2008, as part of an ongoing series being broadcast throughout the Arab World.  We began this project in 2005 with a very gifted lady communicator and psychiatrist who is a member of a local church.  

Since 2005, every month we have been receiving between 1000-2000 responses from the audience. We have the policy not to offer gifts as an incentive for the viewers to contact us, so the responses represent genuine interests in the content of the programs and the Christian faith. 

Many of those contacting our follow-up team have been prayed for and helped in their spiritual journey.  Our goal with this project in 2008 is to have 20,000+ Arab women contact us for personal follow up.  If the trend continues, many of these viewers will be prayed for specifically, some will become Christians, and many will follow Christ more closely.

Audience Response and Follow Up

This is a part of the report of our follow-up team.  They focus on drawing people into actual Christian community, as you can read below -

• Arranged three free surgeries; two to change heart valves and an open heart surgery for viewers.

• A house meeting and prayer meeting with viewers.

• During a prayer meeting, there was a person who started to experience freedom from drug slavery and decided to give up wrong relationships. Another person was almost paralyzed; he believed in God and attended the prayer meeting at church last week.

• Three Muslims have joined a special meeting for them.

• A Sudanese woman was admitted to a medical center.

• Three people have joined the drugs rehab program this month.

• Five youth have joined the support small groups at church.

• God answered prayers and solved a problem between a couple that was involved in a court case.

• A Muslim man wants to know about Jesus.

• A lady from Saudi Arabia has heard about Jesus and wants to know more. She wants to meet someone who can tell her more about Jesus.

• Another Muslim couple couldn’t have children for 8 years.  They prayed with the program’s presenter and God answered their prayers and gave them a child. They attended the meeting in the church last week with one of the response group.

Program Content

The content of the programs is evangelistic but it also geared to equip the believers. People who watch the program are challenged to speak about their faith too.  In each program the presenter lady, who is an excellent speaker, explains the Gospel and directly addresses the TV audience.  The programs focus on topics like sin, God’s righteousness, the death and resurrection of Christ, and personal salvation.  The programs contain a direct application of the Biblical truth expounded.  Questions from the audience (sent by phone, mail and email) are answered.

Outcomes thus far

Beside the thousands of individuals that have contacted us, the counseling ministry of the presenter has grown amazingly in the past years.  We have organized a number of large events where she has met with the viewers and spoken and prayed with them. These have been successful in a number of Arab countries.  The events have also been filmed and broadcast through the program.
